Pat Ahern graduated from St. Thomas with a BA in 1993. A thrower for St. Thomas track and field, Ahern was a five-time national champion and nine-time All-American. He was named the NCAA champion twice in both discus and hammer, and once in the 35-pound weight throw. He led the team to eight MIAC indoor/outdoor team titles, and still holds the St. Thomas records in discus, hammer, and 35-pound weight throw. During his time at St. Thomas, he was invited to the Olympic trials.
