AARC Pool and Aquatic Center
A standout feature of the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex (AARC), the AARC Pool and Aquatic Center is primed for competition. It features both a competition pool and diving well divided by a bulkhead for optimal utilization. Windows from floor to ceiling on the two exterior walls provide ample natural light to bring a bright, lively atmosphere to the venue.
The eight-lane pool measures 33 yards in width by 25 yards in length and averages 8.5 feet of depth. The diving well runs the length of the pool with a one meter board on the east end and a three meter board to the west. A 10 foot-by-14 foot video board displays results in live time.
Since the move to the AARC Pool and Aquatic Center, the St. Thomas men's and women's swimming and diving team has taken off. The men have won five MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships, more than all other MIAC schools combined. That run includes a stretch of four straight from 2014-2018.
On the women's side, the Tommies captured their first conference title in 2016, halting a run of six straight crowns for Gustavus. St. Thomas has since taken the league by storm, going on a run of its own with each of the last four league championships.
The pool will be closed for cleaning every Monday from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
Diving boards are reserved for intercollegiate practice and competition only, and are not available to general AARC users for recreational purposes.
Open swim hours may vary around scheduled athletic events.
During Swimming/Diving Season (October 1 - April 1) the pool is typically closed Monday-Friday from 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm, and Saturday 8:00 am - 10:00 am for varsity practice.
