Freshman Matthew Enck and Josh Thorp each drove in two runs with multi-hit games and Shaun Falbo earned a save with a game-ending strikeout that stranded the tying runs as St. Thomas Baseball opened its 2020 season with a 7-5 win over Schreiner in Tucson.
The Texas team (7-4-1) was playing its 12th game.
St. Thomas' Andrew Tri pitched the first seven innings and allowed four hits and three runs while striking out seven.
The Toms pounded 12 hits, led by three from Enck in his college debut game. Thorp's one-out triple in the third inning plated two runs. Chandler Schaefbauer drove in an insurance run in the ninth inning with an RBI triple.
The teams play again Saturday in a doubleheader.
