Freshmen fuel MBB road victory

Freshmen Burt Hedstrom, Ryan Lindberg and Simeon Davis combined to score half of the Tommies' points in Tuesday night's 80-56 men's basketball defeat of St. Scholastica in Duluth.

St. Thomas (2-1) outscored the Saints 33-15 from behind the arc. It used a 10-2 run to close the first half with a 38-30 lead. The Toms led led just 50-45 before using a 15-2 run to take full control.

Hedstrom, a Minnetonka High grad, finished with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Lindberg, a Wayzata High grad, added 13 points and three assists. Davis, a Hill-Murray High grad, played just 13 minutes but sank four treys to close with 12 points.

Junior Steffan Musoke scored 10 points. Ryan Boll had six points, 10 rebounds and four assists, and G.T. Johnson added nine points and six rebounds.

St. Thomas opens its MIAC and home seasons Nov. 29 against Concordia-Moorhead.
