Men's Soccer races past St. Olaf in 6-1 win

The number three was wild for Tommie Men's Soccer Saturday at South Field. Host St. Thomas moved its season record to 3-3-3 as it scored three goals in each half and recorded a 6-1 victory over St. Olaf.

St. Thomas (3-3-3 overall, 2-1 MIAC) received goals from five different players plus an own goal. It was a rare comfortable win for the Purple after having their first eight games end in tie or one-goal margins (six overtime games). Jake Makela and Jack Barry each had a goal and an assist.

Jake Amey, Sean Kurtenbach and freshman Raphael Stavrides also scored goals.

Keeper Troy Louwagie allowed no goals in his 68:55 stint in net and recorded the victory. The Toms had 6-0 edge in corner kicks and a 12-2 advantage in shots on goal.

The Toms are home Tuesday to face first-place St. John's -- 4 p.m., not 3:30 which ws listed on some schedules.
