The national awards haul continues for Tommie Men's Soccer junior defender Halvor Houg. The St. Thomas standout made second-team All-America by D3soccer.com, a similar award to his United Soccer Coaches' All-America recognition he received last month.
Houg helped the Toms share the conference championship and finish with a 12-4-3 record, including an 11-match win streak. Houg had a team-best eight goals in 19 games, including a 4-for-4 clip on penalty kicks and four game-winning goals.
In three seasons he's played in 52 games with 15 goals (seven game winning) and two assists. The Toms are 12-0-1 in games when Houg has scored a goal, and they have a three-year overall record of 50-10-5 so far in his era.
The Baerums, Norway native, recently was named one of 12 first-teamers on the United Soccer Coaches Men's Scholar All-America team for 2019.
Juniors and seniors who excel academically and start 50 percent or more of their team's games were eligible for nomination. Earlier, Houg was joined on the Scholar All-Region team by teammates Sam Holton and Troy Louwagie, all among 28 honorees from 21 different teams.
Houg is a Leadership and Management major with a 3.63 grade-point average.
