St. Thomas Indoor Track and Field on Tuesday received both MIAC Athlete of the Week honorees on the men's side.

Carl Kozlowski is the conference Track Athlete of the Week. The sophomore from Lake City, Minn., recorded two victories in a 24-hour span in Minneapolis and Northfield over the weekend to move to the top of the MIAC season charts in both events.

At Friday's Snowshoe Open at the University of Minnesota, Kozlowski placed first out of 17 in the 800 meters in 1:54.52, a time that ranks 16th in Division III. He also placed first out of 28 in the 1,000 meters in 2:28.95 on Saturday at St. Olaf, the fastest 1,000-meter time in the MIAC since the 2017 indoor season, and third-fastest by a Tommie in the last 21 seasons.

Eric Holst is the conference Field Athlete of the Week, his second such honor of 2019. The senior from Lanesboro, Minn., broke his own conference record in the weight throw and topped a field of 32 athletes with a toss of 66-1 3-4 to win at the Tostrud meet at St. Olaf. That mark is third-best in Division III in 2019, and just two inches out of making the D-III all-time top-10 list. It would also rank seventh this winter in the Big Ten Conference.

Holst was national champion last May outdoors in the hammer throw. He has improved in the weight throw from a best of 42-0 1-2 as a freshman in 2016; to 51-4 1-4 as a sophomore to 63-0 as a junior; to his latest PR set last Saturday as a senior.

Kozlowski and Holst will look to lead St. Thomas next Friday and Saturday at the MIAC Championships meet in Northfield. Coach Steve Mathre's men will attempt to add to the Tommies' team title streak, which currently stands at 34-for-34 among all conference indoor meets contested.
