Softball pushes win streak to lucky 13

Junior Kierstin Anderson-Glass allowed no runs and no walks over 9 1-3 innings and picked up both pitching wins as No. 11-ranked Tommie Softball ran its win streak to 13 with Monday's 2-0, 11-4 sweep of visiting Augsburg in conference play at South Field.

St. Thomas (28-4 overall, 14-2 MIAC) extended its MIAC lead over idle and second-place St. Catherine (7-3 MIAC).

Senior Chase Shortly finished 4-for-7 in the day to lead the Tommie offense.

In game one, the Toms scored both runs with two-out at-bats. Shortly's home run in the first inning and Rachel Suter's infield RBI single in the second backed Anderson-Glass's three-hit shutout.

The Tommies slapped 13 hits in game two, with Dana Connelly going 3-for-3 and Elise Barnes launching a solo homer to left. The Purple used four pitchers, with Anderson-Glass getting seven outs to stem the comeback try by the Auggies (13-17, 5-9). She struck out nine in 9 1-3 innings.

Weather permitting, the Toms continue a busy stretch with a Wednesday home doubleheader against Macalester.
