Tommie freshman Claudia Kim on Tuesday was named a co-winner of the MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week.
The Woodbury native and Shattuck-St. Mary's graduate shot two-under 142 (69-73) at last weekend's Wartburg Tournament. That let her finish in a three-way tie with two Carleton players for medalist honors in a field of 107.
Kim's three-under 69 on Saturday -- tied for the second-best score by an MIAC player over the last 12 years -- is believed to be a St. Thomas single-round record.
Her scores in Iowa helped the Tommies post a pair of 305 scores and take a third-place finish out of 17 teams. Their 610 total was the second lowest 36-hole score in program history.
Kim placed second the previous week in a St. Ben's Invite field of 71 players. She improved her season stroke average to 73.8 over her first four collegiate rounds.
The Tommies compete Saturday and Sunday in the D-III Classic tournament in Hastings.
