Front pack lets Women's CC take 2nd of 22 at La Crosse

No. 16-ranked St. Thomas beat all 20 four-year schools and took second of 22 teams at the UW-La Crosse Invite.

Senior Sara Ness and freshman Olivia Moll placed 11th and 14th in a field of 327 finishers to lead the Purple.

Iowa Central Community College won with 44 points. Placing 2-3-4-5 were St. Thomas (76), host La Crosse (82), Gustavus (125), and No. 22-ranked St. Olaf (136).

In all Coach Joe Sweeney's team put 10 runners in the top 65:

Ness (11th, 22:37); Moll (14th, 22:45); Katie Breuckman (15th, 22:48); Jenny Launder (16th, 22:50); Molly Clarke (20th, 22:58); Sara Miller (28th, 23:15); Carly Scheuerman (43rd, 23:42); Martha Hubbell (57th, 23:54); Kasey Ericson (63rd, 24:01); and Gwen Helgeson (65th, 24:02).

The Purple compete Nov. 2 at the MIAC Championships at Carleton.
