No. 16-ranked St. Thomas Women's Cross Country placed fourth of 30 teams at Saturday's NCAA regional race in Waverly, Iowa.
The Tommies will await Sunday's late-morning announcement of the final 16 at-large teams for the Nov. 23 NCAA Championship race in Louisville. The Tommies have advanced to nationals four of the last five seasons.
Senior Sara Ness (11th, 23:01) and sophomore Olivia Moll (15th, 23:05) had top-15 finishes. They were joined on the All-Region team by Molly Clarke (29th, 23:40) and Carly Scheuerman (35th, 23:47). Katie Breuckman (39th, 23:52), Sara Miller (42nd, 23:58) and Jenny Launder (43rd, 24:00) rounded out the St. Thomas seven.
Carleton (57) edged Wartburg (59) for first place, and both locked up spots to nationals. Loras (125), St. Thomas (129), St. Olaf 131) and Gustavus (194) had the 3-4-5-6 team finishes.
